SVFD Basket Society Food Drive

Sahtlam Fire Department staff are once again excited to get out on the roadside and collect non-perishable food🧃toiletry🧻 and cash💰donations from our generous community during our 15th annual food drive!!🥫
All goods and funds gathered will go to support the Cowichan Valley Basket Society in Duncan!🍞
Firefighters will be accepting donations at our firehall on Cowichan Lake Road on Saturday April 12th from 9am until 3pm, and Sunday April 13th from 10am until 4pm🕰️
Donations will also be accepted at fire practises on Wednesday evenings from 7pm until 9pm in the week before and after this event🗓️
The Cowichan Valley Basket Society served over 55,000 meals in 2024, and they report that over 20% of families in the Cowichan Valley are currently experiencing food insecurity. Although you may not know, many of these individuals live in our community, and may keep a roof over their heads, but can scarcely afford much beyond that🏠
Each one of us may struggle to feed ourselves or our families at some point in our lives, and the Cowichan Valley Basket Society hopes to be there to ensure no one needs to go hungry🍎
In the week following our food drive, all goods and money collected will be loaded in Sahtlam’s Rescue Truck 54, weighed, and delivered by our firefighters directly to the waiting hands of Basket Society staff🤝
