First “State of the Island” economic report to be released Thursday

The Vancouver Island Economic Alliance‘s annual economic summit starts Wednesday in Nanaimo, and they’re doing something brand new this year.

VIEA President George Hanson says the first-ever State of the Island Economic Report will be unveiled during the closing luncheon on Thursday.

Hanson says they worked with a top economist at MNP to create the report, which examines the island’s economy, both regionally and as a whole.

The VIEA summit at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre is expected to attract hundreds of delegates.
