Duncan Council recently got an update from the Island Corridor Foundation about the potential return of passenger train service to the island.
Mayor Phil Kent, who is also an ICF director for the CVRD, says Executive Director Graham Bruce told them they are still waiting for the funding needed to get the project up and running.
He says once the tracks are repaired and upgraded, a world of possibility could be opened up for people travelling up and down the island.
Kent says Council and the ICF also talked about leasing a building on Canada Avenue. He says the City already uses a building along the track for the Cowichan Valley Museum.

Regional Districts, the province and the feds have committed around $20,000,000 to get the passenger service going again.
