There is a second school in the Cowichan Valley that has also applied for the Aviva Community Fund.
Shawnigan Lake’s Discovery Elementary is also looking to muster up enough votes to earn a $100,000 dollar grant. The other school in the mix is Duncan’s Khowhemun Elementary School.
The principle of Discovery Elementary is Ian Zibin. He says the goal of their project is to create a dynamic learning environment in the classroom and outdoors.
Voting to figure out the finalists in each category ends on Friday, Oct 23rd. Duncan’s Ecole Mt. Prevost Elementary School won the grant last year and used it to build a new playground.
