Christy Clark wraps up UBCM AGM with five spending promises

Premier Christy Clark’s closing address to the Union of BC Municipalities AGM was a bit of contrast from last year with five spending promises, mainly for small and rural communities.

She also had a message for whoever emerges as Prime Minister after the October 19th election.

Clark says with the Softwood Lumber Agreement with the US set to expire, renegotiating it needs to be a top priority.

The handful of spending promises includes a new 75 million dollar, three-year “rural dividend” fund for communities under 25-thousand, 90 million dollars in joint federal/provincial infrastructure money, and an immediate 10 million dollar top up for the Strategic Wildfire Prevention Initiate.
