North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP investigate fatal crash at Boys Road

A serious crash in Duncan has claimed the life of one man and North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP say they’re still looking for witnesses to come forward.

According to police, the crash happened on Mar. 1, around 7:08 p.m. at the intersection of Boys Road and the Trans-Canada Highway, and the highway remained closed until 1:00 a.m. while an investigation took place.

Police say a Dodge Ram 1500 was in the northbound lane and another Dodge Ram 3500 was on its roof in the Boys Road approach lane with two occupants trapped inside.

Emergency services were able to remove both occupants from the vehicle but only one survived the crash.

“Sadly, the passenger of the vehicle, an adult man, was pronounced dead at the hospital,” they say.

The investigation is continuing and RCMP are asking anyone with dashcam footage, or who may have witnessed the incident to contact the detachment at 250-748-5522.

They don’t believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
