The City of Duncan is set to enhance active transportation with the construction of its first major east-west cycling corridor. The project will introduce protected bike lanes and a multi-use path along Coronation Avenue, Ypres Street, and Queens Road, creating a safer and more accessible route for cyclists and pedestrians.
Stretching between the Trans Canada Highway and Duncan Street, the corridor aligns with the city’s commitment to sustainability and improved mobility options. Mayor Michelle Staples highlights the project’s role in promoting healthier transportation choices while helping to reduce downtown parking congestion.
Funding for the initiative comes from the BC Active Transportation Infrastructure Grants Program and the federal Community Works Fund, covering a significant portion of project costs.
