Cowichan District Hospital Foundation hopes to raise money with weekend fundraiser

Funds are rolling in to help the Cowichan District Hospital Foundation (CDHF) hit the goal of increasing healthcare on three initiatives across the region, but more is needed.

According to CDHF, the largest fundraising campaign is still underway which will help provide needed support in three key initiatives including 43 beds and renovations at Cairnsmore Place, state-of-the-art medical equipment at the new Cowichan Hospital, and the Area of Greatest Need.

Foundation executive director Naomi Low says the region has been very generous with donations since the $5 Million Matching Campaign began.

“We’re still collecting funds for Cairnsmore Place for the 43 beds,” she says. “We’ve had some incredible support from community members, but we’re still raising the funds, and they’re being doubled.”

Low says they’re still a long way from raising the funds needed to provide all the equipment needed for all three projects, but thanks to efforts around the area the foundation is well on their way.

“Our incredible community has stepped up and graciously supported us this far along,” she says. “We need their help to continue the momentum, to keep it going.

“The campaign itself will go until the new hospital opens.”

She says if anyone is still looking to raise money, they can do so by holding third-party events and participate in the Chomp for Charity running this Thursday to Sunday this week.
