Local government leaders from around the province are gathering in Vancouver for the Union of BC Municipalities AGM.
They’ll get a chance to lobby cabinet ministers as well as hear from premier Christy Clark and the NDP’s John Horgan, but, Duncan mayor Phil Kent says the chance to talk to other local government officials is just as important.
A lot of the debate will be around the resolutions various Councils are bringing forward.
North Cowichan mayor Jon Lefebure says they’re hoping the convention will back a call for the province to pass on more federal infrastructure money.
North Cowichan will also be leading a call for Destination BC to go back to funding visitor centres based on the number of people who use them and to ensure stable funding in the future.
