BC philanthropist Jimmy Pattison to match donations for equipment purchases at new hospital

Cowichan District Hospital Foundation says it has created the largest ever matching campaign for fundraising in the region through a partnership with BC billionaire and philanthropist Jimmy Pattison.

Donations for the purchase of state-of-the-art medical equipment for Cowichan’s new hospital will be matched by Pattison dollar-for-dollar up to five-million dollars.

The foundation says the matching campaign is a critical step in meeting the need for the very latest in medical equipment to deliver the most exceptional care to patients.

David Robertson, Board Chair of the Cowichan District Hospital Foundation, says it gives the community “the power to make a hugely impactful and lasting difference” in creating a world-class healthcare facility.

Naomi Low, Executive Director of the Cowichan District Hospital Foundation, says it’s “the largest-ever matching campaign in our region, and a chance for our community to come together and really make history.”

Low says the community will have the most exceptional medical care for generations to come.

The Cowichan District Hospital Foundation hopes to raise $20-million to purchase equipment for the new hospital under construction on Bell McKinnon Road in North Cowichan.
