The new playground at McAdam Park in Duncan is now up and running, and the city says it’s completely accessible.
The new playground has had several public consultations from 2018 to 2021, and the city says it’s because of these engagement sessions they’ve been able to make sure the new facility is designed to fit everyone.
“It features small and large play areas and accessible features including rubber surfacing,” they say. “This play space has been designed with everyone in mind.”
Mayor Michelle Staples says the new area will be a great addition to the community and will provide a hub for anyone looking to enjoy family time or just some recreational fun.
“This is going to be such an amazing spot for kids and the community to come together and enjoy the outdoors, connect with family, friends and nature,” she says. “I’m thrilled we’ve been able to bring this fantastic space to life, with extensive input from the users of the park, ensuring McAdam Park becomes an even more vibrant jewel for citizens and visitors of all ages.”
The park was made possible through several grants including from Kal Tire Replay Fund, and the Social Planning and Research Council of BC.
