The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a recall notice for several batches of Island-grown oysters that were recently harvested, because of norovirus concerns.
The CFIA recall applies specifically to certain Taylor Shellfish products sold in BC, Alberta, and Ontario, which were harvested in the beginning of December, including oysters sold under the Fanny Bay label.
Last week the US Food and Drug Administration recalled oysters in more than 15 states for norovirus concerns. The oysters came from the east coast of central Vancouver Island, and were harvested in the first two weeks of December. On Friday, the BC Centre for Disease Control issued a warning after norovirus-like illnesses around the province were linked to Island oysters.
