Due to heavy rain and high winds, the province is suggesting anyone headed to Juan de Fuca Provincial Park remain cautious and stay away from specific areas.
They say significant damage was done to the park’s infrastructure are parts of the area will remain closed until further inspections can be done to ensure it’s safe for people to use.
Active closures include the Juan de Fuca trail and backcountry campsites, as well as the Sombrio Beach suspension bridge and Parkinson Trailhead.
Not all areas are closed, but the province says it’s important to remain conscious and aware of potential threats.
“Some areas of the park can still be accessed safely, including China Beach and Second Beach for day use, East Sombrio Beach, and Botancial Beach and Botany Bay,” they say.
Anyone wishing to use the park is encouraged to check the BC Parks website for updates before making plans to visit.
