The Georgia Strait Alliance says the entire Salish Sea would be at risk if Steelhead LNG goes ahead with a pipeline to carry natural gas to the Island.
Steelhead and the Malahat First Nation are proposing an LNG project in Bamberton. And Steelhead will work with a US company to build a pipeline to serve it – going underwater, across the Strait and past Salt Spring Island.
GSA Executive Director Christianne Wilhelmson says the area is too valuable to jeopardize.
Wilhelmson says BC needs to look seriously at investing in green energy, rather than continuing to rely on fossil fuels.
