Last week a Cowichan Valley local was awarded the King Charles III Coronation medal for their work in the community.
Executive Director of Nourish Cowichan, Fatima Da Silva received the medal at a ceremony last Friday at Alderlea Farm.
Cowichan Valley MLA and Green Party Leader Sonia Furstenau also attended the ceremony last Friday.
The province says that recipients of the medal represent a diverse group of individuals who have made significant contributions to the province or their communities.
“This distinguished honour recognizes your dedication, unwavering commitment and the profound impact you have made on your communities and our province,” said Premier David Eby.
Nourish Cowichan feeds kids in the Cowichan Valley School District and provided over 700,000 meals last year.
