The Cowichan Valley Capitals’ Dryden Kuramoto has been selected as this year’s winner of the Kyle Turris Award, for his work in the community.
Every year, one player from each team in the BC Hockey League is selected for the award, based on their community involvement and going above and beyond to help others.
For the Cowichan Valley, Kuramoto was chosen for his work as an ambassador for the Capitals in the sports community. He acts as a mentor for younger kids in local schools, in minor hockey, and at all events where he volunteers.
The awards are named after Kyle Turris, who got his start in the BC Hockey League before being selected third overall in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
