Tourism Cowichan is hoping a new sign at the Malahat Viewpoint Rest Area will help bring more people to the valley.
Marketing coordinator Cathy Mailhot says the sign shows tourists where they can find different activities and attractions.
Mailhot says the new sign replaces an old one that was there since 1986. She says it’s a part of a joint effort to upgrade the area that includes the City of Duncan refurbishing the totem pole.
According to the Ministry of Transportation, 11,000 vehicles head northbound daily through that stretch of the highway during the summer.
