A Regional District of Nanaimo Director is the target of a defamation lawsuit by the Island Corridor Foundation.
The ICF claims Julian Fell, who represents the rural area of Errington/Coombs, crossed the line with comments in a 2013 memo to local governments, and a 2014 radio interview.
Fell is the RDN’s appointee to the ICF Board, and a vocal critic of how they’ve been handling the long-delayed return of passenger rail service.
The ICF has been threatening legal action if they didn’t get a retraction and apology, but only acted on those threats recently when they filed the suit in Duncan Supreme Court.

Fell says he’ll be filing a statement of defense next week.
