RCMP warn Cowichan Valley residents about two on-going scams

North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP say there are a pair of scams affecting residents in the valley.
Cpl. Krista Hobday says a company called JK Accessories Limited has accessed Craig’s list to offer employment for people to act as personal shoppers.
She explains what happened to a local man.
Hobday says another scam going around involves somebody calling a victim and pretending to be a nephew, niece or grandchild that needs to be wired money or as a member of legal counsel that has to have money for a family member in jail.
If you receive unsolicited phone calls, emails or letters requesting that you send anyone money for any reason, please take a few moments to call the police or ask around before committing to send it.
