Regulations for mandatory fencing around swimming pools in the Cowichan Valley could be in place by next month or December.
The CVRD’s vice chair and electoral director of Mill Bay and Malahat is Mike Walker.
He says a bylaw was addressed by the board at a meeting on Wednesday.
Walker says the next step is to place advertisements in local papers and see how the residents respond to it.
The CVRD started working to change the bylaws after a coroner’s report into the drowning death of a three-year-old in 2013. Changes are already in place in Cowichan Bay, where the drowning happened.
