Federal Health Minister Rona Ambrose is trying to reassure Canadians following news the US is dealing with its first diagnosed case of Ebola, and so are medical health officers.
Island Health’s Dr. Charmaine Enns says the Texas situation – which involves a man who travelled to the Ebola zone and was diagnosed after returning to the US – shows the protections in North America’s system are working.
BC’s provincial health officer Dr. Perry Kendall, meanwhile, says it’s likely BC could see one or two cases under similar circumstances as the one in Texas.
