Food allergies on parents' minds as kids head back to school in BC

With the province’s schools back in session it’s time for parents of students who suffer from food allergies to think about preventative measures to keep their kids safe.

Shaun Baird is a pharmacist with Duncan’s London Drugs.

He says parents need to ensure that auto injectors are not expired in the case that an allergic reaction occurs at school.

Baird says teachers and classmates need to be made aware that some students suffer from food allergies so that proper avoidance measures can be taken.

He adds it’s important for people around the individual to know how to use an auto injector so that epinephrine can be provided as quick as possible in the case of an allergic reaction.
