The civic elections in North Cowichan will be using a modernized method to tabulate votes this fall.
Mayor Jon Lefebure says residents will be using electronic voting machines for the first time ever.
He adds that there is a big advantage with the new method.
He says the machine can tabulate the results as the votes go in which means that residents will be able to find out who won shortly after the polls close.
Lefebure adds that spoiled ballots will no longer be an issue like it possibly was in the last election were he won by 16 votes but there were 30 spoiled votes.
