The Municipality of North Cowichan is starting the process of hammering out the 2018 budget.
Early forecasts indicate the budget is going to increase by 2.9 percent, and one of the expected “big ticket” items isn’t going to be part of the financial plan, that being the new RCMP detachment.
Mayor of North Cowichan, Jon Lefebure says the new policing facility has been earmarked for the 2019 budget.
Lefebure says a lack of major cost-drivers in the budget resulted in a normal annual budget increase.
There are three upcoming budget meetings that are open to the public.
Budget Meetings:
October 23: Island Savings Centre (Cowichan Suite/Mesachie Room)
October 25: Crofton Community Centre
October 26: Chemainus Seniors’ Centre
