Three local police officers and one civilian were recently recognized for their acts of bravery.
Constable, Clay Wurzinger and his police dog Boomer received a commendation for locating and rescuing a missing woman, while Constable, Joe Power also received a commendation for his work to help multiple stab wound victims, performing and instructing others on providing first aid, and arresting the suspect.
Duncan/North Cowichan RCMP Constable, Amron Russell says the four people were recognized at the Island District RCMP Awards Ceremony in Victoria recently.
Constable, Gina MacRae was also recognized with a commendation.
MacRae was able to talk a man down off of the silver bridge in Duncan, resulting in the man’s cooperation and apprehension.
Russell says she’s proud of the four locals that were recognized and pointed out that people go unrecognized for their acts of bravery every day.
Civilian John Prokop also earned a commendation for helping an officer in distress.
