Nourish Cowichan is a new non-profit society that aims to provide healthy breakfasts to hungry students in the Cowichan Valley.
Nourish Cowichan started a pilot program in November last year, and became a registered non-profit in March. Since then, they have started programs in five local schools and feed between 160 to 180 children each breakfast.
President Fatima Da Silva says it was shocking to hear how much poverty exists in our community.
Da Silva says their goal is not just to feed kids, but to provide healthy and filling breakfasts.
Da Silva says any farmers who have a surplus of fruits and vegetables could donate to Nourish Cowichan, and cash donations are always appreciated.
She says it costs approximately one dollar to feed one child breakfast through the Nourish Cowichan Society. For more information on how you can help, visit their
