Six Sobering Beds Expected To Open Next Month

Six new sobering beds are scheduled to open up in Duncan next month.
Island Health is partnering with the Cowichan branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association to operate the 24-7 beds out of Warmland House.
Lisa Murphy is the Director of Mental Health and Substance Abuse for Island Health. She says this program will help improve the care experience by offering a setting more suitable than previous alternatives.
This is part of the province’s initiative to create an additional 500 substance beds across BC, with 93 of them on the Island.
