The budget for 2016 is set for the Cowichan Valley Regional District.
Board Chair Jon Lefebure says it’s the earliest date the CVRD has ever finalized a budget. He says that means capital projects, like a new fire hall for North Oyster/Diamond, can start sooner.
Lefebure says, in addition to the 2.4 million dollar fire hall, other big projects include upgrades to the Trans-Canada Trail for 1.7 million, and a new sewer treatment system in Cobble Hill for 2.7 million.
He says the overall tax jump for the Regional District is almost 4.9 per cent.
