Owners of boats moored in the Dogpatch just north of Ladysmith have been issued notices to leave by mid-November.
Ladysmith mayor Aaron Stone says the Town’s bylaw officer and RCMP recently informed the owners the only place that boats can be moored longer are marinas or private docks.
He says the zoning bylaw states the boats can only stay for seven days, however, owners have been given an extension until the 15th to make plans.
Stone says the area has been a problem in the past as there have been conflicts between people staying on the boats…as well as numerous fires.
