Greens, NDP and Conservatives busy with major promises for Island Coastal ridings

Monday was a big day for election promises and announcements in the Island Coastal Region.

Starting with Green Leader Elizabeth May, who was in Cowichan Bay, where she committed the Green Party to protecting fresh water.

The Greens are also promising to invest in infrastructure to ensure First Nations have access to safe drinking water.

Meanwhile, the NDP used an event in Victoria to pledge to make BC Ferries eligible for federal infrastructure programs to get money for terminal upgrades and new ships.

And in West Vancouver Sunshine Coast, Conservative incumbent John Weston and cabinet Minister James Moore promised to deal with derelict boats, by going forward with Weston’s private members bill, which includes criminal penalties, and providing up to 1-million dollars a year to help remove derelicts.
