Routley grills Ministry of Education over data security problems

Nanaimo-North Cowichan MLA Doug Routley went into the new sitting at the Legislature predicting that recent data security problems at the Ministry of Education would be a key issue.

And the opposition wasted little time making it their Question Period theme on day two.

Routley, the NDP critic on privacy and access to information, says British Columbians have heard Education Minister Mike Bernier’s promises about investigating and taking people’s privacy seriously, before.

Bernier says his ministry is cooperating with the investigations being headed up by the Ministry of Technology, Innovation and Citizen Services and the privacy commissioner and he won’t pre-judge the results.
