New garbage and organics carts are coming to North Cowichan starting next month.
According to the North Cowichan municipality, the carts will be used to collect garbage and kitchen or yard waste.
They’ll be needed for the autocart collection service, which will see new trucks lift and empty bins starting in June.
Operations Director Shawn Cator says it’s an exciting new step for the new service.
“It’ll make curbside collection more efficient, and will now include yard waste,” said Cator.
“We know people have been interested in how the carts will move and fit – this is the time to get familiar with them before the start of the collection in June.”
They say the carts will be delivered route-by-route, and left at or near the end of driveways, with carts to be grouped together if there’s more than one house off a driveway.
For recycling, you can still use your current bins, with a delivery schedule for the new carts to be posted here.
The new carts will come to your house starting April 7.
