Duncan crash sends one man to hospital with serious injuries

A man has sustained serious injuries after he was struck by a semi on the Trans-Canada Highway in Duncan.

According to North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP, the incident happened on Mar. 23 around 9:40 p.m., in the northbound lane of the highway near Beverly Street and after arriving on the scene they found the man on the ground and the tractor-trailer stopped.

“An unknown man was found unconscious, breathing, and lying on the ground several feet ahead of the semi,” RCMP says. “The injured man was taken to hospital with what were believed to be serious, life-threatening injuries.

“He remains in hospital in stable condition.”

Staff Sergeant Kris Clark says the investigation is ongoing, but so far criminality was not a factor.
