Ladysmith RCMP seeks community input on crime reduction priorities

The Ladysmith RCMP is inviting residents to help shape its crime reduction strategies and policing priorities for the upcoming year. By providing feedback, community members can directly influence how law enforcement focuses its proactive efforts to enhance public safety.

How the RCMP Prioritizes Crime Reduction

While officers dedicate much of their time to responding to emergency calls and conducting investigations, they also implement proactive crime reduction initiatives when resources allow. Past initiatives have included:

  • Traffic safety campaigns targeting impaired and distracted driving
  • Outreach programs to support vulnerable individuals by connecting them with essential resources
  • Increased police presence through foot patrols in parks and public spaces

Why Community Input Matters

Ladysmith RCMP Detachment Commander S/Sgt. Trevor Busch emphasizes the importance of public feedback in shaping these initiatives. “Input from the community is really a key piece of feedback that we look for before setting new initiatives. We want to make sure we’re focusing our efforts in the right areas that matter to the community.”

How to Participate

Residents are encouraged to complete a short public questionnaire, available from March 21 to April 11, 2025. By sharing their concerns and suggestions, they can help the RCMP determine key areas of focus for crime prevention and public safety.
