With polls showing close races in our area, some groups are pushing the idea of strategic voting; where someone who supports one party, votes for another with the goal of keeping a third party from winning.
One of those groups, Lead Now, has targeted Cowichan-Malahat Langford and Nanaimo-Ladysmith along with others on the Island and Lower Mainland in a campaign they’re calling Vote Together.
Lead Now is partisan – they’re opposed to the Conservatives – and the group’s Amara Possian says even though the NDP won in Nanaimo-Cowichan, the new ridings could “swing”
Lead Now has been raising money for polling in their target ridings, and Possian says they hope to release results for some BC ridings this week.
They’ve also been getting people to commit online to vote strategically, and around a thousand have signed up so far in Nanaimo-Ladysmith and 700 for Cowichan-Malahat-Langford.
