A new six-story building with 69 apartments is planned for Dobson Road in Duncan, but only if council votes to approve a bylaw change next month.
The bylaw will be reviewed on Feb. 10 by council when they consider the motion to establish a new Highway Corridor Commercial Zone which they say will include site-specific off-street parking and development regulations. It will allow for a six-storey mixed-use multi-development with commercial uses and commercial daycare on the first floor.
They say the addition of 69 dwelling units will also be added above the first storey.
Council will hold all the required readings during the meeting, but because of recent provincial legislation intended to fast-track new housing developments, will not hold a public hearing.
The proposed bylaw is now available for everyone to view, until Feb. 10, on the city’s website.
Areas in the bylaw change include 553 Dobson Road, 561 Dobson Road, and 573 Dobson Road
