Several charges have been laid after North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP participated in a joint operation targeting alcohol and cannabis related offenders.

Twenty charges were laid under the Liquor Control Licensing Act and other bylaws, and according to RCMP three criminal warrants were also executed where police seized several grams of controlled substances and two weapons.

Police say 12 groups of people committing minor offenses against the act were also apprehended, where they provided verbal warnings and education about local and provincial laws.

The joint operation included North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP’s Community Safety Unit, Indigenous Police Services, North Cowichan Bylaw, Duncan Bylaw and inspectors from the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch.
