Community groups can start applying for funding through an outdoor grant program.
The Outdoor Recreation Council of BC has launched their second intake of the Outdoor Recreation Fund of BC program, an initiative that gives grants to support projects focused on improving outdoor recreation for the province.
The funding ranges from $2,000 to $10,000, and will be available to charities, non-profits, local and Indigenous governments.
Grant program manager Tomke Augustin says in their first intake last year, they got a massive number of applications.
“The proposed projects revealed incredible contributions to outdoor enhancement, education, stewardship, and inclusive participation,” said Augustin.
“Beyond these vital impacts, many projects also showcased their potential to boost local economies and foster economic diversification in rural communities across the province.”
The council says last year, they awarded $250,711 in grants to 30 recipients, which included Sunshine Coast Trail Maintenance and Tla’amin Nation Trails Network.
They add grants are given to projects that focus on outdoor access and infrastructure, stewardship and education, and inclusive participation.
You have until February 20 to apply.
