Phased closures on Bell McKinnon Road have begun and North Cowichan’s mayor says delays are to be expected as they complete construction in the area.
The road work between Fairfield Street and Norcross Road is to complete underground utility installation, and Rob Douglas says in a social media post work is expected to be completed by Jan. 31.
Douglas adds anyone in the area should be prepared to use detours unless you fall into one of four categories.
“Access within the closed section on Bell McKinnon will be limited to local residents, emergency vehicles, school buses, and transit only,” he says.

Signage will be in place to alert drivers, as well as traffic control people during construction.
