Duncan school fire labeled suspicious, North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP

North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP say a fire that broke out on New Year’s Eve is now being labeled as suspicious and they’re asking for any help to further the investigation.

The fire broke out on Dec. 31 at roughly 10:00 p.m. at Alexander School, and police say they were alerted to the burning building after receiving several calls from the public.

They say although the building was unoccupied during the time of the report, they still deem the blaze suspicious, but they need more evidence.

“The fire is currently considered suspicious, and police are seeking surveillance video and dash camera footage in the area around the time of the report,” they say.
