BC Assessment says around 26-thousand homes in the Cowichan Valley are on the list to have their pictures taken, as the agency updates it’s database for the Island.
People can expect to see marked vans, equipped driving around North Cowichan, Duncan and Lake Cowichan starting later this week.
Regional Deputy Assessor Bill Dawson says it’s an efficient way to update the property files, and it leads to more accurate assessments
Dawson also says they are taking steps to protect privacy; they won’t take pictures of people, visible signs on a property, license plates, or anything inside the home.
