Ladysmith sets date in March to elect new mayor

The Town of Ladysmith has set a date for the by-election to vote for a new mayor.

Residents will cast their ballots to replace Aaron Stone on Saturday, March 1.

Voting will be held at the Frank Jameson Community Centre, with advance votes will he held on February 19 and February 26 at City Hall.

Nomination packages will be available on Monday for those interested in running, and can be picked up at City Hall.

Nomination papers must be returned to City Hall between January 7 and January 24.

Early or late submissions will not be accepted.

Ladysmith council has appointed Donna Smith as Chief Election Officer.

The by-election will replace long-time Mayor Aaron Stone, who resigned in September to take a position with an economic development organisation in Victoria.
