BC’s civilian police watchdog is looking into a recent incident in Duncan, where a woman was injured while being arrested by RCMP.
The Independent Investigations Office of BC is investigating an incident which happened on Friday afternoon. Police responded to reports of a woman waving a weapon at vehicles near the intersection of Underwood and Craig Streets.
Officers found her nearby by the river off Allenby Road, and there was an interaction between them while she was being taken into custody. She suffered a serious injury and was taken to hospital for treatment.
The IIO is now determining the extent of her injuries, and will decide whether or not force used by police during the arrest was necessary, reasonable, and proportionate.
