Tourism in BC has flourished and so has a partnership between Nanaimo Airport and Kelowna International Airport after they were recognized internationally through Airport Council International (ACI).
According to a media release, the partnership received an award for excellence in airport marketing and communications and further collaboration between the two facilities has gone a long way in promoting the benefits of travel within BC.
“The collaboration between Nanaimo Airport and Kelowna International Airport, along with our airline partner Pacific Coastal Airlines, has been instrumental in highlighting regional travel,” the release says. “By working together, both airports have promoted the benefits of travelling within the province to explore all that British Columbia has to offer.”
Nanaimo Airport president and CEO Dave Devana says both regions are starting to expand, and with tourism as more people discover the hidden gems across the province.
“As we continue to expand our routes and enhance passenger experience, we’re committed to working with our industry partners to boost regional tourism,” he says. “I would like to thank our partners for working together on this ‘Perfect Pairing’ campaign and being recognized for the ACI Best in Airport Partnerships Award.”
Tourism Cowichan development specialist Kenzie Knight says this award will benefit the region and be able to highlight the history of Vancouver Island in several ways.
“By working together, we’re able to enhance connectivity between our destinations and expand opportunities for storytelling to attract new visitors and support economic growth for local businesses,” Knight says.
The award is designed to recognize the exceptional value of partnerships between airports in undertaking marketing, public relations, and customer experience initiatives.
