Anyone in the Cowichan Valley who receives a utility bill is being asked to make alternate arrangements for their services as the Canada Post strike continues.
The Cowichan Valley Regional District says the strike is continuing, and with no end in sight they’re encouraging customers for Lambourn Estates sewer, Honeymoon Bay water and Shellwood water to make arrangements to pay their bills on time.
“Due to the Canada Post strike actions, residents in these three systems may experience delays in receiving their CVRD bill notices,” they say. “Customers are encouraged to use alternative methods to make payments prior to Dec. 31.”
Anyone in those systems can pay by visiting their bank, over the phone, or online.
According to Canada Post, as the strike starts to enter its third week, talks have been continuing since Nov. 18, but the two parties remain distant on a resolution that would put union members back to work.
They say the longer it goes, the more services will be affected but they understand the impact this is having on everyone.
“Unfortunately, we’re now entering the biggest online holiday shopping of the year with the postal system shut down for the millions of Canadians and businesses who rely on it,” they say.
