North Cowichan will begin a series of public information sessions next week to give residents insight into the 2025 budget process and a chance to share their feedback.
On Tuesday, November 26, the first of three sessions will be held at the Crofton Community Centre.
Open houses will also be on Tuesday, December 3, at the Cowichan Community Centre’s Heritage Hall and Tuesday, December 10, at the Chemainus Fire Hall.
The meetings begin with an open house at 4:30pm, followed by a Special Committee of the Whole presentation.
The Municipality says people will receive information about municipal services and capital projects funded by property taxes, user fees and other revenue sources.
Starting next Tuesday, department business plans will be presented to Council outlining projects for next year and budget requests.
Mayor Rob Douglas says municipal budgeting is a year-round process and autumn is when Council begins to learn about budget pressures for the following year.
Members of Council will make decisions on budget items and priorities over the coming months and make decisions that determine property tax rates.
He says they want residents to learn more, ask questions, and share input.
You can learn more online on the municipality’s website.
