Ferries and buses will be free for veterans Remembrance Day

Veterans are getting complimentary travel in BC this Remembrance Day.

BC Ferries, BC Transit, and Translink are all offering free travel to veterans as a way to thank retired and active members of the military for their service.

BC Ferries will offer free service to those who have official Canadian military identification or are travelling in uniform.

In addition, seniors can travel for free on Remembrance Day as long as they present their BC services, driver’s license, identification card, or birth certificate.

For BC Transit, all scheduled routes and HandyDART services in Victoria are free for retired and active cadets, and also those in uniform. Buses will run under the Sunday schedule on Monday.

Translink is bringing free transit to those who have or are now serving in the Canadian Armed Forces, police, fire, Canadian Coast Guard, Department of Fisheries and Oceans, and BC Ambulance Service.

They say you should bring your badge, military ID, Veteran’s service card, or appear in uniform to take the bus for free.

All three agencies hope this will make travelling more convenient for Veterans this Remembrance Day.
