All the rain this week is good news for people worried about the Cowichan River, and Catalyst Paper’s Crofton mill, which depends on a healthy water flow.
But, there’s still cause to be concerned.
Parker Jefferson is co-chair of the Cowichan Stewardship Roundtable. He says Cowichan Lake and the river are still well below normal September levels, so flows will be controlled and held to a minimum.
Jefferson says with the rain, they’ve been able to extend the date things could run dry from the last week in September to October 18th.
