One driver is dead following an overnight collision near Nanaimo Airport last night.
Shortly after 10:30 p.m. on October 21, Ladysmith RCMP were called to the southbound lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway just south of Aqua Terra Road.
Upon arrival, life saving measures were applied to a 19-year-old driver of a Nissan 350Z, but unfortunately passed away at the scene.
The highway remained closed for several hours last night to allow investigators to inspect the scene.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact Ladysmith RCMP.
