You can help out a local family after several life-changing events left them with no income.
The Eagles Hall in Duncan will be hosting a fundraiser for Kenny and Olivia Evans to help raise money from a silent auction, 50/50 raffle and a band for food, rent, clothing for kids and other necessities.
One of the organizers, Cyndi Price, says the family started falling on hard times with Kenny being diagnosed with cancer, and things just got progressively worse from there.
“Olivia’s daughter Katie was found in her home after having a seizure,” Price says. “She was put in an induced coma for three weeks, and when the doctors tried to bring her out, she had another seizure.
“She (Katie) is the mother of premature 10-month-old twins, and currently the family is suffering from loss of wages.”
Olivia was doing trips to Victoria Hospital daily, to visit both Katie and Kenny who were in the intensive care unit, separated by only a couple of rooms.
She adds Kenny is currently being cared for with Stage 4 cancer and sounds like he will not be returning home.
“Kenny was diagnosed in June with cancer and is now going to palliative care,” she says.
Donations of any sort are being welcomed by the Evans family through a GoFundMe, or if people can’t provide a monetary donation the family accepts anything for kids, groceries or gift certificates to help with the family including a nine-year-old daughter and 10-month-old twins.
The fundraiser is scheduled for Oct. 19 at Eagles Hall in Duncan from 6:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.
